Thank you for helping us give back this Easter!
At Web 20 Ranker, we believe in giving back to our clients and our community in any way that we possibly can. In fact, we make several donations every year to children in need, thanks in large part to the kindness of our customers and SEO Community.
For Easter 2021, we chose to give back to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, with 10% of the day’s proceeds being donated.
We were able to send a $2,000 donation and we couldn’t have done it without you! We’re hoping to out-do ourselves every sale with larger donations to help children locally, nationally, and even internationally!
SEO Mad Scientist 🧪🥼🔬
Hey there scientists and welcome to another week of exciting SEO test results…
If you remember last week we were doing some tests on removing the address from GMB listings.
We had seen some surprising gains on a listing that we had removed the address from but it was until after reporting that we realized there was also a service area added to the listing which could have been an impact on the rankings as well…
We immediately set out to repeat these tests to see if we could find any correlation and what was actually causing the movement.
We found one of our test listings that currently had an address but no service area. Upon looking at the listing we had found that Google had actually added a service area to the listing. The service area added wasn’t where the city verification was but was a smaller location slightly North of the city center.
When looking at our rankings we noticed that the most rankings we saw were actually in the service area that Google had listed on our address.
Since we had seen consistent ranking data for this listing over the past few weeks we decided we would just remove the address and see if we saw any changes even though it had a service area listed.
Our base keywords didn’t show much movement but oddly enough our geo-targeted keywords in the verified City (not the service area) did seem to lose some traction in the primary city and state the initial GMB was listed at.
It almost is as if the verified city and state as well as the service area both held some relevance for where Google was willing to show the listing…
From the result though it would appear that the service area actually had a bigger impact on where the listing would rank than the actual address city and the state itself.
We hope to confirm this next week after adding a service area for the original address city and state and saying if that brings back the original rankings further south or even improves them much like the currently listed service area.
If these findings are accurate then listing service areas could be much more beneficial than we had previously seen.
Be sure to join us next week when we do a final review on our service area/ list address tests and finally get to the bottom of what we are seeing!
Have a great weekend and as unusual, until next time
Happy Testing!
