SEO Mad Scientist 🧪🥼🔬
Welcome back to another weekly update of GMB tests! This week we’re going to be taking another look at our ongoing tests with local listings.
So far we’ve tested the impact of GMB services and seeing significant movement when creating services with our Target keywords.
Last week we noticed many of our test listings that had one or two reviews started showing more for terms that we found in the reviews.
(You can test this yourself by taking listings with reviews and pulling targeted terms out of the reviews and trying to run some geogrids)
Since we’ve seen such a strong correlation in GMB signals that previously didn’t seem to produce rankings we are now testing the signals again and review seems like the most logical thing since we already saw some possibilities that they could be moving the needle.
Last week we placed a review on one of our listings that had started to rank from some of the services we added to the listing. We wanted to see if this review would increase the rankings further.
Here’s the results of the exact term that we were targeting within the review:
Our other test listing that had seen progress from the review, we then added the targeted service to that listing but have yet to see a result.
This made things a little more confusing because we would assume that if both signals were compounding with each other that both tests would have shown movement around the same amount of time as they were done around the same amount of time.
Since the data isn’t definitive, of course we will keep testing but be sure to tell us what you think in the Local SEO Group.
Do you think reviews with keywords are moving the needle now much more than it did before?
Next week for more test updates as we continue to crack the local SEO code…
Until then, happy testing!
