Let’s dive into what we have seen thus far. To refresh your memory visit our last weekend update here, you can even view all of our previous e-mails in the weekend update archives. With this test site, we were testing the effectiveness of utilizing duplicate content in a local niche to build well-performing lead gen properties. We launched 30 sites on subdomains using different brands and geo info which included about 20 pages and 20 blog posts. Over the past couple of weeks, we have been able to gather a ton of information and lots of changes! This site was targeting “title loan” keywords so we are currently tracking all primary service pages terms such as: Title loans city Car title loans city Truck title loans city Motorcycle title loans city Short term loans city Bad cred.t loans city Secured loans city Here is our overall progress for these terms since the launching on April 20th ⬇️⬇️⬇️ The average position started at 141 and is now 86, that’s a 55 position rank increase in just 2 weeks from the launch of the site. So far Google seems to be responding well to the duplicate site content. On top of that, we are seeing #1 and top 10 rankings for the lower comp keywords, overall everything is performing well and consistently going up. With this test, we launched the same exact duplicate site on multiple subdomains with different NAP on each site. In our previous test, we saw some effectiveness in utilizing dup content for inner linking on a website. In the past, we tested mass page websites (websites where you generate thousands of pages with the content just swapping out geo-references) and have found a lot of difficulty with Google crawling and indexing the entire site. These types of setups also suffer because any inner linking can only be utilized once. Meaning, if you create a post or generally relevant page, you don’t usually want to link to every geo service page on your website. So the mad scientist theorizes, that by duplicating the site we can repurpose all our blog posts’ inner links to go to every geolocation page. This could provide more inner linking per location, increasing crawl budget, indexing and rankings! When we look at Google Search Console, we can see Google is counting our inner links per subsite, which is exactly what we were hoping for. Here we can see search console reporting the internal links for one of our subsites. The inner linking on these sites is primarily in the footer. Within the 2-3 weeks, since we launched the website, Google is showing internal links for 4 sites in GSC and has indexed a massive amount of pages as well. We will continue to watch as these updates show more of the websites dup content inner linking. Another thing we are seeing is a high index rate in the public index including duplicate content posts from multiple sites. This means the Google bot has crawled and indexed those inner links as well. For the examples you are seeing here we used archive.org free content method to get the blog content. We used fairly general content topics, essentially anything related to finance, money, savings, so on… You can see our full list of blog topics used by referencing any of the subsites blog feeds: https://oceantitleloans.goapply.loan/financial-blog/ With what we have seen so far it’s safe to say that Google is definitely indexing and crawling these pages and their inner links. Since we can find them in the public index we can also assume Google must trust the content to some extent as well. With multiple variable tests like this, it’s hard to make any solid conclusions, which is why we don’t want to say anything definitive, but we would love to hear what you think! Give us your input and tell us https://www.facebook.com/groups/localseocommunity/permalink/1610444532445390/ – Do you think these sites will continue to rank well with this method? – Are rankings increasing because Google counts these pages and gives credit to the interlinking? – If we publish more dup content across all these sites very quickly, will we see rankings continue to rise? We will have to see ;-) We have some standalone websites on different URLs we are using this same process test on, as well as testing some other content methods including using dup content from ezine articles instead of archive.org. Next week we will go over those results as well as the type of content used. We have seen some varying results depending on the type of dupe content and possibly even the topics used. We look forward to seeing you again next week with some more SEO findings. Until then, happy testing… 🔹 Mike Holding – View Post Here I have a mortgage company as a client and they were number 1 in GMB for the last 8-9 months. Recently they added a real estate listing to their website and asked to add real estate as GMB category. I added that. After a couple of weeks, GMB started losing no 1 position and was at 4 and 5. I removed all the additional categories: real estate and financial advisor. I set it back to mortgage lender and mortgage broker. I change the description of the GMB as well. After this change, the GMB is now not even in the top 10. We have 148 reviews and the competitors have hardly 8-10 reviews. When you edit GMB info, do you lose rankings? Any tips or checklists I should go through to help my client get back. 🔹 Alex Martinez – View Post Here I am trying to rank a local website for a home service in a small city. When I look at the serp results on the first page there is no local businesses at all other then GMB. The results are Yelp, Houzz, homeadviser and blog articles. My question is do you think it would be difficult to rank a local business because these websites have a high DA? I think It would be harder to try and out rank local businesses with established websites… Any advice on how to outrank Yelp and other authoritative sites on the first page?🔹 Trevor Hawley – View Post Here I always thought if a GMB is verified then the aggregators would pick up on it. However I’m noticing many verified GMB businesses that have citations done not showing up in expressupdate.com when searched – I’m assuming it’s because then they haven’t been submitted to the aggregators yet?
