Same Prompt, Difference Results
Comparing Output from Gemini & ChatGPT
12.11.2024
Since ChatGPT is largely funded by Microsoft, there is reason to believe it may leverage data influenced by Bing’s search engine. Conversely, Gemini is developed by Google, which could imply its content is better aligned with Google’s search ranking factors and optimization preferences. The hypothesis is that Gemini-produced content may outperform ChatGPT-generated content in Google’s search rankings due to this inherent alignment with Google’s algorithms.
For this experiment, we aimed to keep the methodology straightforward. First, we identified a single target keyword and then crafted a universal prompt to guide both AI tools in generating their respective content. Below is the full prompt used:
“I want you to write an article that will rank at the top of Google for ‘TARGET TERMS.’ This article should include every element Google expects to see for this specific search query, including comprehensive headings, structured sections, and all necessary on-page optimizations.”
By using the exact same prompt for both AIs, we ensure a fair comparison of their content creation capabilities. After receiving the finished content from each, we will publish each article on its own brand-new, previously unused domain. This way, external factors like historical site authority and existing backlinks are minimized, allowing us to focus strictly on the quality and optimization of the AI-generated content.
Once both articles are live, we will track their performance over time for the chosen keywords, carefully observing which one climbs higher and maintains a stronger presence in the search engine results pages (SERPs). Ultimately, this test will help us understand which AI tool is better equipped to produce SEO-optimized content that performs well in organic search rankings.
