Testing Different Posting Frequencies on Google Business Profile
Google Business Profile Posting Frequency Test
10.08.2024
This test explores the hypothesis that posting more frequently on a Google Business Profile (GBP) could lead to better visibility in local search results. Our belief was that increased engagement signals and fresh, relevant content targeted at primary and related search terms (such as towing and roadside assistance) would help improve grid rankings for key terms across three separate GBP listings in different cities.
Posts were crafted with specific terms, images, and EXIF data to target towing and its related services. Each listing received a different posting frequency to measure if posting more often influenced local rankings compared to less frequent posting or no posting at all.
This test was structured around three separate GBP listings for towing companies, each with distinct posting schedules:
- Jackson Towing Service: Two posts daily (mis-scheduled for 1 ½ days).

- Tallahassee Towing Company: Two posts per week.

- Fort Walton Beach Towing Service: No posts (control).
For each listing, posts were written to target “towing” and related terms, integrating geo-specific content when possible. Image EXIF data was optimized for the main keywords, and select posts included location-specific terms in the descriptions. We monitored each listing for changes in local grid rankings to observe the impacts based on posting frequency.
