Our hypothesis is that publishing a press release through AP News, a highly reputable news source, would significantly enhance a brand’s authority online and improve its search engine rankings, particularly for branded search queries. We theorize that an AP News link, due to its high domain authority and credibility, would not only quickly index on search engines but also rank prominently on page one for searches related to the brand name, thereby providing substantial brand visibility and authority. Furthermore, we hypothesize that such a press release could positively impact the average ranking positions for keywords associated with the brand, including base terms relevant to the brand’s industry or niche, due to the authoritative backlink and relevant content provided by the AP News article. This improvement in keyword rankings is expected to be observed within a few months following the press release publication. Additionally, we anticipate that the presence of an AP News article could serve as a strategic asset in reputation management campaigns by securing a top position in search results for the brand, potentially displacing less favorable content. This hypothesis extends to speculate that the effectiveness of AP News links could be further leveraged for enhancing other brand signals and testing the efficacy of tiered linking strategies in future SEO endeavors.
