Our hypothesis is that the implementation of jump links on a website, specifically through the use of anchor tags and a table of contents (TOC), could potentially influence the ranking of long-tail keywords in search engine results pages (SERPs). We theorized that jump links, by improving site navigation and user experience, might indirectly impact the rankings by increasing the relevance and accessibility of content within the page.
We hypothesized that implementing jump links would help with long-tail keyword rankings. So we started tracking long tail keywords, which you can see below (ex. “sedation dentistry clinic in CITY” and “sedation dentistry price in CITY”). We weren’t really ranking for any of these long-tail keywords before testing, so we expected pretty obvious results…
