Our hypothesis is that implementing 301 redirects to a Google My Business (GMB) CID URL would have minimal impact on the GMB listing’s rankings due to the complex nature of 301 redirects and their varied outcomes influenced by numerous variables. These variables include but are not limited to the type of domain being redirected (e.g., expired, auction, indexed websites), the backlink profile, the age of the website, and the extent of its indexation. Given these factors, we expected mixed results from our tests, with a primary assumption that the immediate ranking impacts observed would not be sustained over time due to Google’s adjustment to the redirects.
